Manual rack and pinion gate

The gate consists of a welded body 1, a rack 2, a sliding valve 3, a pinion 4 and a handwheel 5 with an axis 6. The body frame consists of an upper and a lower flange connected by a box. Its sidewalls have rails 7, welded to it, which allow the sliding valve, whith a rack fixed on its central axis, to slide. The flange has fixation holes, which help to connect the device with the pipeline.

If it is necessary to adjust the flow of bulk material, the worker manually actuates a handwheel, with the pinion on its axis. The rotation is converted into translational motion by means of a rack and pinion gear, and a gate valve moves in the proper direction. The degree of opening of the shutter sets the required clearance for material receipt.
