TVU-2 telescopic ventilating unit

TVU-2 telescopic ventilating unit is used to ventilate grain in warehouses and open areas of grain receiving facilities that are not equipped with stationary floor ventilation units. It is used along with VOE-5 (ВОЭ-5) local ventilation fans with a power of 7.5 kW.

TVU-2 is a cylindrical multistage pipe consisting of four perforated and one non-perforated section with a total length of 9700 mm.

The first link is the main bearing element of the unit and serves as the base (body frame), where the remaining sections are placed during transportation. There are sleds, welded to the body frame outside, to move the unit, with the slip blind on the end face. The internal sections are perforated cylindrical tubes made of a grilled sheet with holes of 3 mm. Inside each section, at the rear end, there is a crosspiece with a central hole for the cable with a diameter of 10 mm, with a felt seal at the front end, serving to prevent the grain to get inside of tube coupling.
One end of the cable for retracting the sections into the body frame is fixed to the eyebolt of the end section of the telescopic unit, with the second one ending with a loop for pipe dismantling from under the bulk. To prevent the spontaneous extension of the sections from the body frame during transportation, there is a block, attached to the cable after retraction of the sections.

The telescopic ventilating unit is used as follows. The required number of units is delivered to a certain place of the site or storage, where the grain is supposed to be ventilated. Two workers stretch the unit for the entire length. Before stretching the telescopic tube, the first link slip blind and the block are removed, and the cable is stretched. When the telescopic tube is stretched, the separate links are adjusted (if necessary) to be aligned. This is necessary to exclude links jamming when subsequently removing them from under the bulk. If the length of the bulk significantly exceeds the length of the pipe (9.7 m), then another one is mounted opposite to one previously stretched telescopic unit. The distance between the pipes depends on the humidity and the height of the grain bulk. A fan is connected to the flange of the body frame instead of the blind. After filling the site or warehouse with grain, as necessary, it is blown and actively ventilated. The pipes from under the bulk are removed using a car or a tractor. To do this, the fan is disconnected from the pipe; the end of the cable with the loop is pulled out and fixed to the machine with its further pulling out. The TVU-2 unit is stretched to its full length, examined, cleared from the grain, checked for cable fixation on the last link. After inspection and cleaning, the links of the pipe are again combined, the cable is reeled, placed in the first link, the locks are placed and closed with a blind. The unit is prepared for transportation and application elsewhere or for storage.

The advantages of telescopic ventilation units are the following:

• they can be removed from under the ventilated bulk till the reload of the latter and used again for processing other forming lots;

• after removal, they do not prevent the mobile machines and mechanisms operation during handling operations;

• they can be used not only on sites, but also in warehouses;

• the units are mobile, simple in construction and operation and are not expensive.
