Cereal equipment: spheres of application and peculiarities of use
Before describing cereal equipment, it is worth mentioning that cereals do not have the same form at the plant, which we are accustomed to. The basic, initial stage of cereals processing includes its release from dust, rubbish, and flower dust particles. Only after that, the cereals are packed into bags or sacks. All these processes would not be possible without the special cereal equipment.
In general, the cereal equipment produced by Kharkovprodmash serves to process, evaporate and sort the cereals. Let us consider the stages of cereal equipment application on examples of processing of two cereals: wheat and buckwheat.
So, each cereal has its own features. For example, the process of releasing grain from shells occurs owing to the impact of grains against the wall under the centrifugal forces in a mechanism called a centrifugal peeler. Engine turns are selected for each culture individually. However, in the case of wheat, it is simply impossible to remove all 6 layers of shells. Therefore, other types of cereal equipment are used for its processing. Huller-whiteners may intensify cereals processing: there the grain passes several times between the grilled wall and rotating abrasives. In addition, to process wheat culture, other cereal equipment is also used: a smasher and a grader.
The last machine is used in following the verification of compliance with the GOST: its main function is to separate wheat grains according to the size. Before selecting cereal equipment for wheat, it is worthwhile to pay attention to the fact that wheat can be processed on one cereal processing line with barley and peas. Moreover, it is easier to remove the shell from the latter, thus this cereal processing line productivity will be higher.
Any owner of cereal equipment should not forget that the waste is a perfect feed for livestock. In this regard, it is easy enough to optimize the waste-free production of the enterprise, through cooperation with livestock farms.
The main cereal equipment, which is used in the processing of buckwheat, is the trier, sieve and paddy machines, as well as stoners. Six fractions are used, as a rule, when sorting by size. Stoners serve to separate pieces of soil that are equal in size to the grain.
The result of buckwheat hulling is a mixture of hulls, hulled and non-hulled grains and polished meal. The conveyor feeds all this mixture to the air-and-screen machine. This is the end of the initial stage of buckwheat processing. Full buckwheat hulling occurs only after repeated exposure of the grain to the shell peeler’s parts. The main stages of processing, which passes buckwheat in cereal equipment: cleaning from litter; steaming for 10 minutes; softening; peeling; separation of the kernel from the husks, polished meal, non-hulling and lumps of soil; drying; packing into bags or sacks.
